Brenda Bess who is a very good friend and my visiting teacher delivered a To - Die - For feast. I had to capture this little piece of heaven before it quickly disappeared. If you were going to die tomorrow ask her to make her blueberry peach cobbler and top it off or not with vanilla icecream. Brian kept repeating. "Your not going to like it" yeah right. He just wanted more for him. He's picky when it comes to cobbler cuz I've made cobblers and crisps that he's turned up his nose at.
She made a 6 course meal of meatloaf, southern beans, fruit salad, veggie salad, mash potatoes (my Mom's favorite). It was delicious.

First Bath

Jacob is a trooper when it came to his bath. Not even a wimper. He liked it so much he didn't want to get out.

This is me smiling thru the contractions. Thankfully phone pictures can turn out a bit blurry. It's somewhere between 3:30 am and 5:15 am. At 3:20 am I woke up thinking I needed to use the bathroom. This was not unusual cuz I've been getting up every night around this time to do the same thing for the past month or so. The only difference was halfway to the bathroom I got the feeling I was going to pee on myself if I didn't hurry and the bathroom is only a few feet away. I bolted to the bathroom and then GUSH. I had no pain no contractions. no nothing. I sat there starring at the liquid trying to figure out what was wrong with me. Embarrassed that I just peed on myself somewhat. A few minutes has past and I hear Brian ask if I was ok. "Ummm I don't know" I can't tell if that's pee or something else". Brian stood in the door way and said "yeah, your water broke." "Huh?" Now the last time my water broke I was doubled over in pain in the assessment room of the hospital. I felt gross cuz the water trickled down my leg so I asked Brian if I could take a shower. He wasn't going to tell me no cuz he wants to make me happy and comfortable. I stepped in and the cold water somehow woke me up and brought me down to reality of what was happening. I couldn't believe that I felt fine but sheer terror of the soon to be pain got me hurrying. I immediately stepped out and got dressed. Pulled my hair back still questioning why I wasn't in pain. Brian left to go wake up my Mom and get the hospital bag. I walked out and there stood my Mom waiting and with a quick encouraging hug B and I were out the door. Flowers Hospital is across the street. One red light away and I made Brian go thru it thinking the excruciating pain would start. I was just scared and nervous of the labor pains. Brian parked in the ambulance parking (they need to make a sign) He walked me in and left to go repark the car. I couldn't believe the amount of paper work. No pain just urgency cuz the any minute the pain would come and it would hurt like no other. Tony came and took me to the labor and delivery room. Nurses came in with more paperwork. They checked me and I was at a 5-6. (I was at a 2-3 the week before) I tried to sit up thinking that it would help the baby come down. The beeping from the monitor slowed down so the nurse came in and told me to lay back down. Turns out the baby didn't like it.
This time around I saw several different Drs. Dr Butler was the one on call. My first thought was I wasn't crazy about him cuz he smelled like smoke and his teeth were kinda gross. But in the end he was my favorite Dr. I asked if it was to late to get an epidural. She checked and said yes. I was at a 7 and by the time the drugs would kick in it would've been to late. I pushed and pushed and yes I admit I am not the best pusher. At one point I pushed and said "get'em get'em get'em"-thinking by now he's gotta be halfway out. Turns out he was not far enough out that they could pull him out. I kept repeating "I'm sorry. I'm trying" The Grr. I was becoming frustrated with myself and so the Dr and Nurse turned their attention to Brian's shirt. It had lettering on it and that was enough of a distraction that I did my best and final push. It was amazing. It was awesome. I am so glad that I didn't get the drugs. I felt everything. Every curve of him. It was incredible. I couldn't stop thanking the nurses and the Dr. Jacob Watkins was a healthy 9'7 baby boy and born at 5:26.

This was what was happening at our house tonight.
Lil B loves his robot launcher from Aunt Lara.
Things winding down while Dad's at work.
Life is good.
Tomorrow I will go into detail about Jacob's birth but I need to download pics from Brian's phone first.

Happy 1 week old lil Guy!
We are so glad your here and healthy.

A few minutes old
2 days old
1 week old.

Compare and contrast.

I have pictures of Lil B somewhere on a dvd but for the moment I can only find pictures of Lucas and his brother Jacob. I don't know why the one is so much smaller than the others. I leave the technology to Brian. Both are taken from cell phones so you get the same quality. This is only the beginning of catching up. I'll see how much I can get done before Jacob wakes up.
