Saturday

Peek a boo and a snowy walk with Grandpa Mitchell

Friday the 3 of us headed up to Heart Bar for some camping. Grandma would be joining us later that afternoon. Lara and Jim came up Saturday for the day. It was such a fun experience. Brian saw his first snow fall, tried his first vienna sausage, and roasted marshmallow. In the morning I made a run to Walmart and Sears to look for jackets. It was down in the 30s and 40's. There was a break in the snow falling so we went for a walk. The snow melted as soon as it hit the ground. Grandpa kept the RV nice and warm. Grandma had the RV stashed with all the food and snacks you could possibly think of. She had quilts/ blankets/sleeping bags piled high so we were quite comfortable. The first night Grandma brought KFC for dinner. Little B slept pretty well until 5:30. He woke up really upset but after a banana, a diaper change, and some cuddles from Grandma he fell asleep for another hour and a half.

Great Grandma Anderson's Cheesecake

HE LIKES IT!!! For Grandpa Anderson's 65th Birthday Aunt Jennette whipped up Grandma's famous Cheesecake. This has been a family Birthday/Father's Day tradition for many years. Great Grandma Anderson's recipe is a bit different than the normal cheesecake. It's fluffier and has a lemon flavor to it.

alligator wrestling and American Idol

Uncle Danny was nice enough to share his alligator with his Nephew. We might have another Steve Irwin on our hands.
I admit that I haven't been keeping up with the American Idol but since it was on at both families houses it couldn't be missed. Did anyone catch the USC band come marching out?. Cool huh. I had one sister go for the Archuletta guy and the other sister go for the Cook guy. I was undecided but ended up going for the guy that lost. Lil B was mesmerized by the American Idol light effects.

Pastrami Heaven

How there is 2 pastrami sandwiches I don't know. Brian tried the Hat and seemed to like it very much. I haven't been able to find a pastrami sandwich that compares to theirs. It is sooo yummy. We also indulged ourselves with their wet fries.

October Baby Boy? or Girl?

For those who were guessing boy IS RIGHT!!! I tried to post thenews the night before leaving for Cali but I could'nt get the pictures to work. Photobucket was giving me problems. I only wanted one photo and it was giving me 15 of the same one. So I gave up on postingand got back to packing. We are more than excited for new little guy to come. I had a gut feeling it was a boy but the pregnancy was going so differently (not as sick, different cravings, etc) that maybe it was a girl. I think that it'll be neat cuz they'll be the best buddies. I was talking to a Mom in RS today and she had a 2 boys. She was saying that the younger one idolized the older one and wanted to do everything the older brother did. She also said that there are sharing issues but I guess that comes with every sibling. It'll be neat to see his personality. I'll find out in time.

It feels like all the Sunday lessons were written for me. Today Grandma A stayed home with Lil B (she'd be attending another ward later in the day) while I went to church with Grandpa A. This meant I could stay and listen to the whole RS lesson. I missed the 2nd half of the Gifts of the Spirit lesson last week but this week's RS lesson had to do with Mothers. Different questions like how to reduce the pressure in the home, how the church supports Mothers, and my favorite how Husbands support their wives. Unfortunately Big B wasn't there to hear the lesson cuz I guess that he drank some bad milk the night before which left him feeling horrible all day. Poor guy. He's been really supportive in letting me spend 3 weeks with family. No complaints what so ever. It was good to hear the comments shared in the lesson. One of the comments made was to not over schedule your week. This one stuck out to me cuz I was trying to squeeze in as much stuff to do during the 3 weeks I was here. Plans have been changed due to weather so it's alright if I don't get everything on my to do list.

This trip has been wonderful so far. I get to enjoy a little me time and the Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles get to enjoy Brian. Brian has grown out of the cuddle stage and more into the exploring/get up and go stage. It takes longer to get him dressed just cuz he's so wiggly. The help that I've been getting is wonderful and will be sorely missed. Until then I'm livin it up and loving every moment of it.

Mitchell's Famous Tacos.

Grandma Mitchell is famous for many things. One of them happen to be her tacos. They are to die for. We try and try to duplicate her tacos but always come up short somehow. The picture of B having his tacos minus the taco shell is blurry but needed to be recorded in the books.

Little B has a fascination for Grandpa Mitchell's glasses.
Little Brian loves his Uncle Danny.

Grandpa Mitchell's Ducks

These are only some of Grandpa Mitchell's ducks. Lil Brian looks forwards to them when he comes to visit. Today I did some shopping for "summer" maternity clothes. (It seems like there is a larger selection out here).
Wednesday - we'll celebrate Grandpa Anderson's 65th Birthday with cheesecake.
Thursday - Jennette will go with us to the Huntingtons Library Gardens. Friday - We are off to Big Bear in the RV with the Mitchells until Sunday. The weather is supposed to be perfect during the day. We can't wait.

Congratulations Jennette!!!

She did it!!! She got her PA and now she's studying for the big exam. Oh the possibilities of where she can go from here. It was worth it to fly out to have her share her special day with us. We are so proud of her.

We had banner/signs and pom poms. It was a bit of a challenge trying to get it on DVD camera and take pictures and cheer at the same time but it was fun.
Her biggest fan.

The picture says it all. This was at the very end.
Thankfully we found a spot in the shade to watch the graduation. The commencement ceremony speaker was the CEO of Disney I believe. We didn't hear much of it but that was alright. The day started at 4:30 when I got up to decorate Jennette's car with USC colors. We left the house at 6:10 am. Brian ate Cheerios and a strawberry nutrigrain bar in the car for breakfast. Later that evening we had Jennette's open house. It was soo cool. It was fun to see familiar faces and match faces to names that Jennette would hang out with. I'll post pictures of the open house when I get them. We've just been soo busy and on the go. The 2nd part of the flight was a bit rough. Brian had had it and and had a few melt downs. I couldn't find the diaper rash cream and I'm sure that he had really bad gas from the snacks. I was taking mental notes for the flight back. But like I said Jennette's graduation was totally worth it. I'm loving being out here with family and so is Little B.
The next day my SiL invited me to a Piano Bar. That was awesome and can't wait to post the picture. We had perfect seats and we sang and clapped to the music. For those who are new to the piano bar it's a bar with 2 pianos. The pianists play any song on the spot without any music. Talk about talent. I'll try and keep you posted on more of our adventures. Hope things are going well with you. Take care. Sending love from So Cal

Signing out for awhile

This is me signing out for awhile. At least I think. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to post cuz my parents computer is sooo slow. So long Dothan for 3 weeks. I'll be sure to come back with loads of pictures. I'll try and cut it down to a few of my favorites.

My First Mother's Day

I've had a wonderful Mother's Day. Yesterday I told Brian that I didn't want anything for Mother's Day because the Vet bill came back a little higher than I thought. Brian was determined to get me something nice for my first Mother's Day. There was a pearl necklace that I've been looking at because I wanted something with Lil B's birthstone. Saturday we started the Mother's Day celebration by trying out an authentic Mexican restaurant. The waiter hardly spoke English and it was owned by the same guy that owns Old Mexico. We love their cheese dip. Dinner was great. We had the whole place to ourselves so Lil B could be as loud as he wanted. Brian took me to Khols to show him the necklace that I wanted. We then stopped to rent a few movies. (I was too tired for the Drive In) and we swung by to pick up icecream sundae waffle bowls from Dairy Queen.
This morning the brethren came to take over our Primary calling so the ladies could go to Relief Society. That was wonderful. They passed out bath salts to all the Moms, the primary kids sang the songs that we've been practicing for the last couple of Sundays and the Young Men bore their testimonies. So church was good up until we were leaving. I'm grateful that if it happened then and not somewhere else. We had bit of car trouble but luckily for us there was another brother in 1st ward that works on cars as a hobby. It was a blessing that George was there and tinkered with it. He fixed the problem temporarily using a spring from a pen. It was a total McGyver moment. Our good friends Andrea and Tyler came to our rescue and waited around to make sure that we made it home okay. Thankfully they live really close by. Lil B slept thru all the excitement. I'm grateful that the Lord watches out for us. Brian took care of everything all day. He cooked the meals, changed Brian's diapers and got him ready for church and bed.. I shared my Mother's Day dinner with Lil B and he loved it. I'm grateful to my husband for the best gift I could ever receive. Our babies.

My mother - My friend

They say you can never understand someone until you walked a few feet in their shoes. Since I had Brian I have a whole new appreciation of my Mom and Mother in Law. Growing up I would give Mom something that we'd make in Primary and call it good. Now a days I'd love to send her away on a cruise. I've been so fortunate to have such a good role model, a shoulder to lean on and someone to look up to that I call Mom. My Mom has a very generous heart and is an eloquent speaker. She is my Hero.

I'm very close to my Mother In Law. She is so down to earth and talented. She constantly puts others first. We have a good time when ever we get together.

I hope that my Moms have a Happy Mother's Day.

It's Friday

Today's been a busy, fun, eventful day. I was actually outta the house by 8 this morning. I don't remember the last time that happened. It's been so long. Right now both Brians are sleeping and the dogs are off getting beautified and shots so I thought that I'd check in and tell about my fun visit with Kristy, Kate, and Baby on the way -Caleb. Kristy is such a good Mom and was a huge support when I had Little B. I wanted to return the favor and so I surprised her with a prenatal massage. Her first massage at that. I would have done it but I didn't have the extra padding to make her comfortable. This made it possible to hang out with Kate and she did excellent. She even went #2 all by herself so this makes no accidents 4 days in a row. Mom and Dad are saying Hallelujah I'm sure. Good job Kate!! Lil B did really well for only getting a fraction of his nap. After Kristy's massage we swung by the pet store to see the Yorkie puppies. They were so cute. Then made a quick stop at Sonics for drinks and sonic blasts and headed back to their house to visit. It was so fun to visit with them. Kristy took some cute pictures of B on the bouncy horse that I'll have post later. By the time I found my camera the lack of sleep was kickin in and he was done. It's crazy to think that next time I'll be over there there will be a sweet new baby boy around to ooo and ahhh at. Can't wait. I guess it's off to write a to do list and maybe even squeeze in a nap. Cheers.

It's Thankful Thursday!!

I'm thankful for this Man. We met back in High school thru my Best friend. We were very good friends for a long time. One night I got bored with the flirting game. I had to be the aggressive one and say something along the lines as "What's going on"? He answered me with a kiss. We dated on and off for 7 years. I moved to Utah then went on a mission to Vancouver Canada. I came home to Cali and then back to Utah. Brian finished HS,worked at a few places like UPS and went to AMP school then accepted a job working on Helicopters out in Alabama. He moved out on his Birthday. He was totally supportive in my in all my decisions and rarely wrote while I was on my mission. He said that it would've been to hard. I told him to date other girls but he said that he didn't. He be stubborn that way sometimes. But I love him. The long distance relationship was hard. He'd come to Utah to see me and I'd go and see him in California. I have all of his letters somewhere. Love LetterIn Alabama he met some missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Called them to see what time church starts and showed up. He was taught by sister missionaries who were serving in the Dothan 2nd Ward. By this time he had grown out his hair and I'll never forget the phone call. I was in Utah in the basement of the Brigham City house. He said that he cut his hair and that he was going to get baptized. I was floored and ecstatic. I couldn't make it to his baptism because of school but I arranged a trip out to see him thinking we're just friends. I saw him and all the warm fuzzy feelings came back but I couldn't be ready for marriage. I just got home for a mission. Nobody else was getting married it's scary and it's serious and it's forever. I couldn't believe that this guy wanted to spend an eternity with me. On the 3rd proposal I confidently told him yes. I'm thankful that he didn't give up on me. I'm thankful that he gained a testimony of Jesus Christ and made sacred promises to be worthy priesthood holder.

They say when you marry you marry his family as well. I got really lucky. I'm thankful for his parents and the amazing job they did in raising such a good man. Mom helped him in Scouts, taught him to have good morals, and to have a faith in God. Dad showed him by example how to work hard and provide for your family.
I'm thankful for the wonderful Father he is. He is very involved in raising our son. He will spend some time with his son so I can sleep in. He's been to every baby Dr's appointment with our first and with this one as well. Except maybe one and that was just for me to do a routine check up towards the end. I'm thankful that he helps keep me balanced. When life gets a little crazy and I feel like I'm going to crack he calms me down in a way that only he knows how. He simplifies things for me. I'm thankful that he's great at Math and numbers.
They have a special bond that is undeniable. I'm thankful for being able to watch them play together. At times I have to look aways cuz Big B will toss B in the air a little to high for me but Little B loves it. I'm thankful that he makes me laugh. I'm thankful that he lets me spend as much as I want and do what ever I want. I'm thankful that he works so hard for us so that I'm able to be a stay at home Mom. I'm thankful that he puts his family first over work and play. I'm thankful that I get to see a side of him that nobody else sees. I'm thankful for his kind, compassionate heart. I'm thankful that he's a great kisser.
I am thankful that I'll be going down this path with him by my side for an ETERNITY. Circle Of Hearts Animated Hearts
